DESIGN IDEAS

A Kiln Craft Tableware large and deep baking dish with handles is ideal for a spacious oven. This ceramic baking dish is made from red clay and hand-painted with vibrant, toxic-free glazes. In this form it is convenient to bake any dishes in the oven, be it meat, fish, chicken or lasagna and casseroles – everything turns out very tasty in our clay dishes.

Ceramic oven molds made of red clay must be placed in a cold or lukewarm oven, then they will serve you for a very long time. Although our casserole dishes were baked at over 1000 degrees, they do not like sudden changes in temperature.

What should be the shape and geometry of the products?

♦ The dishes should not have sharp edges at the transition from the bottom to the wall, as well as strongly protruding handles. This will help with more even heating, reducing stress and the likelihood of cracking.

♦ For the same reasons, the walls should be made thin and uniform in thickness.

♦ It is better to make the bottom flat to ensure even heat distribution even when heating on an electric burner. This is not necessary if the cookware is intended for cooking with gas or wood. Heat resistance will be even better if the bottom is curved, hemispherical, close to the shape of a cauldron.

How To Dry And Fire?

♦ As with all ceramics, the product must be completely dry before firing. This also applies to mass 120.7, which is a traditional stone mass.

♦ Firing is also common for stone products. To be sure that the product is completely dry, heat it in the range from 100 to 200 degrees for at least 60 minutes. After this, you can increase the heating speed to 150 – 200 degrees per hour.

♦ If a waste firing is required, do it at 980 degrees for 30 minutes. The poured firing can be carried out at 1000 – 1300 degrees, and we recommend always holding for 30 minutes. When firing above 1200 degrees, the heat resistance decreases, so we recommend firing dishes lower.

♦ For glazing, use glazes with low CTE to avoid scratching. CTE (20 – 500°C) should be, depending on the firing temperature, from 4.0 to 4.7 * 10-6 / K. Ask your local supplier for a glaze with these specifications.

How to use the cookware?

♦ Cookware made from our 120.7 flame retardant compound can be used in ovens and microwaves, as well as open fire and traditional electric range cooking. Heating on induction cookers is only possible using special metal foil on the bottom of the cookware. This is best left to industrial manufacturers!

♦ Never heat empty cookware, otherwise it will crack.

♦ Do not expose the cookware to strong thermal shocks, for example, do not cool it under running cold water. Cracking can happen even if you simply place a hot pan on a wet surface.
